Great stuff - good joke. Helps to establish contact, defuse the situation and just have a good laugh.
Do you like to laugh? How about joking?
Agree, any tense and serious event is much more interesting if there is at least a drop of humor in it. Boredom breeds despondency, and then off we go...
First, I’ll tell you a story from my life, how I once hired a very tense girl for work. She, poor thing, was so nervous before the interview that she was literally speechless. Although I don't think I look very menacing. And yet, I scared her somehow.
He sits, trembles, stutters, confuses his words, talking about himself. I decided to interrupt her and tell her a couple of jokes like "8 hours of computer games in a row: normal. Traffic lights longer than 30 seconds: I'm going to get old here." and "No love is more anticipated than a bus in -30°.", which I read on https://funnle.org/car/. Honestly, I don’t even remember which one, but we laughed together “till we drop.” And then I started telling her in a joking manner about our employees and even remembered jokes from my experience as an employee.
And what do you think? The girl melted, gained confidence and said: “Let me just come to you tomorrow morning and look at your atmosphere. And then we’ll decide what to do with me next.”
Agree, a slightly unexpected statement for the initially “embarrassed” one?! But I rejoiced inside myself, realizing that humor has magical powers, that it turns the unhealthy modest into natural and bold, erasing unnecessary boundaries between people.
How to use it:
- Defuse the situation in any incomprehensible situation - be it an interview, meeting, planning meeting or any other a priori boring meeting.
- Establish contacts with employees and managers - they are people too, they want to smile and be in a good mood, sometimes they need help to achieve this zen.
- Bring back your good mood, positivity and joy from life. This provides a powerful resource that allows you to experience the joy of being “here and now”, as well as make plans “for later”.
Humor is a great tool that has no age, no depreciation, no discount. It really helps to stay sane during such an unpredictable time.
And now I want to share with you a few rules for how to joke properly. Take it into service!
- A joke is appropriate in almost any situation. The cases when you shouldn’t use humor can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
- Always take into account the status, age and mood of the company you are joking with, plus the conditions.
- Remember that not every dirty joke is a funny joke. Sometimes light humor or, on the contrary, subtle humor, about the same English aristocrats, can “go” much better than black jokes.
- Use jokes to lighten the atmosphere, but under no circumstances humiliate your interlocutors. Not only will they be crushed, but they are also unlikely to want to interact with you, resolve matters, and so on.
- Learn to laugh at yourself. This is perhaps one of the most important rules, although it is the last. Many comedians joke harshly at others, but they themselves are offended by jokes directed at themselves. First of all, learn to joke about yourself too.
Make jokes, laugh and have fun wherever you are - on vacation, at an interview or in quarantine! Remember that a joke is a powerful weapon that can melt the ice and dispel anger and irritation.
The joke makes everyone feel very good. It’s free, you don’t need to register for it, it’s just there in your soul in unlimited quantities.
Good luck in your humorous endeavors!
